Hi friends! Welcome to my site and a look into my life. I'm so excited to be launching this project and the journey to come. As we step into the new year, my goals are to improve in all areas of my life - physically, mentally, and spiritually. I aspire to seek joy, gratitude, and happiness in each day and to spread love and kindness to all. I plan to use this website as a portal to help hold myself accountable, reflect back, and inspire others.
While my goals may seem broad and far-fetched, the opposite of SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely) the goal setting buzz acronym, I decided to implement the use of a bullet journal to help break down my goals, track my progress, and hold myself accountable.
I recently learned about bullet journaling from a few of my friends and was rather intrigued about the concept. A quick Pinterest search in and I was hooked and ready to start bullet journaling. I spent the last few days of 2018 filling up my Pinterest board with bullet journal pins and preparing to start in 2019. Buuut before I get into the logistics, let me explain what a bullet journal is. A bullet journal is often described as a mindfulness practice (a 2019 goal!) and a productivity system by helping one live an intentional, productive, and meaningful life (wow! 3 power words!) Basically, its a culmination of a to do list, planner, and diary. It's great to jot down quick notes and tasks and for keeping track of habits and errands. This buzzfeed article does a great job at explaining what a bullet journal is and how to start one: https://www.buzzfeed.com/rachelwmiller/how-to-start-a-bullet-journal. It's perfect for someone like me who loves structure but also personalization - you can fit the journal to your every need and purpose through creating an appeasing system and structure. Remember that it is FOR YOU - there is no right or wrong way, so do what you like and is most helpful for you!
I started my bullet journal with an index, followed by a yearly calendar to keep track of birthdays and big events (I was SUPER excited to put my good friend's wedding in there!). I put in big "yearly" goals like more specific goals I have for the upcoming year (running another half marathon and spending less time on social media), books I want to read (top on the list is Becoming by Michelle Obama, of course), and a structured morning and nightly routine. I decided to leave a few pages blank in case there was anything I wanted to add in as the year went on. Next, I broke it down to January - I have a habit tracker to help hold me accountable with carrying out certain habits and activities, a sleep log, and weekly goals/to dos. I'm still working on building my journal and get inspired with new ideas every time I'm on Pinterest or just thinking. I'm excited to see what I come up with and what my bullet journal looks like at the end of the month! (Tip: creating trackers/logs are super helpful to ensure that you are following through with your goals and tasks). I'm hoping that my bullet journal will help me in growing in all areas of my life - physically, mentally, and spiritually, because I am able to set and track smaller goals contributing to my larger ones.
I wish you all another year filled with joy, happiness, love, success, and good health. Here's to a fresh start on the road of a beautiful journey.
That's all for now.
In peace and solidarity,
Sha
